PLYMOUTH swimmer Ben Proud claimed a second BUCS Short Course Championship title on the final day of the event in Sheffield.
Double Commonwealth Games champion Proud added the 50m butterfly crown to the 50m freestyle gold he had won at Ponds Forge on Saturday night.
Proud, competing for the University of St Mark and St John, clocked 23.17 seconds on his way to victory on Sunday afternoon in South Yorkshire. His university team-mate John Slater came sixth in the same butterfly final with 24.41.
However, Proud had to settle for silver in the 100m freestyle event. Stirling’s Duncan Scott won that race in 47.78 with Proud second in 48.34. Slater was ninth (51.06) and Matthew Zammit 10th (51.32).
Antony James had won the 100m butterfly event on Saturday and he helped Plymouth take fifth in the 200m medley relay on Sunday.
There were also finals on the last day of the championships for fellow Plymouth-based swimmers Tamir Gonen-Cohen, James Eillison, Barton Townley, Perry Gardner and Adam Milne.
