Jake Jervis nets twice as Plymouth Argyle overcome Bideford

argyleJAKE JERVIS and Ryan Brunt continued their good form in front of goal as Plymouth Argyle beat Bideford 3-1 away on Saturday afternoon.

New signing Jervis netted twice – once in each half – against the Southern League side, with Brunt bagging the Pilgrims’ other goal.

Days earlier, Brunt had collected two and Jervis one as Argyle beat Elburton Villa 4-2.

Derek Adams’ side got the perfect start at Bideford with Jervis slotting home after just four minutes following a good run and pass from fellow new arrival Gregg Wylde.

However, the Pilgrims were unable to add to their account before half-time and Luke McCormick was forced to make a number of good saves to keep out the hosts.

But eight minutes after the interval, Argyle did increase their lead when Brunt headed home a good corner by Graham Carey.

Sean Downing pulled one back for Bideford quickly but five minutes before time the impressive Jervis was brought down in the box and he picked himself up to fire home the resultant penalty.
