PLYMOUTH Argyle opened their pre-season campaign with a 4-2 victory over South West Peninsula League side Elburton Villa at Haye Road.
Ryan Brunt netted twice for the Pilgrims, once from the penalty spot, with captain Curtis Nelson and new signing Jake Jervis collecting their other goals.
Nelson gave the Greens the lead in the seventh minute with a header before Aaron Hulme levelled for Villa in the 25th minute.
Three minutes later Brunt, who started up front in the absence of Rueben Reid, restored Argyle’s lead from the penalty spot after his strike partner Jervis was tripped by John Styring.
After the break, Brunt made it 3-1 with a low shot that beat home goalkeeper Ryan Rickard.
And a minute later Jervis marked his debut in an Argyle shirt with a well-taken goal to make it 4-1.
Elburton, though, kept going and netted a consolation second goal a minute before the end of normal time.
