AN impressive number of runners braved the tough Six Moor Mile race on Sunday morning.

If the course, a moorlands run around the Maristow Estate, was not hard enough anyway, athletes had to contend with a difficult wind and some heavy showers.

The leading runners avoided the heaviest downpour, but others were not so lucky.

Tavistock’s Neil Barkell was first home, ahead of Erme Valley Harriers’ Allister Bristow in the race organised by Plymouth Harriers.
