PLYMOUTH divers Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch have both reached the women’s platform final at the World Series event in London.
Couch had made the previous three World Series finals, winning two consecutive bronze medals in Kazan and Dubai, but it is the first time this season European champion Barrow had reached the final six.
Barrow dived really well in front of a home crowd to finish second in her semi-final with 342.00 points. Canadian Roseline Filion won with 359.55 and Russia’s Yulia Timoshinina also progressed out of the first pool with 301.75.
Couch faced a really tough heat that that included three World Series winners this year – Huixia Liu, Rulin Chen and Meaghan Benfeito, plus Malaysian star Pandelela Rinong.
But Couch produced a stunning display to finish second with 367.10 points. China’s Liu won with a staggering 390.00, with Malaysia’s Rinong surprisingly edging out Chen and Benfeito for the last spot in the final.
Couch and Barrow had won a synchro bronze in London on Friday.
