PLYMOUTH taekwondo star Katie Bradley won her first senior G1 senior medal at the weekend by claiming bronze in the -46kg category at the Spanish Open.
It was only the 18-year-old’s second competition at that level as a senior.
However, she was so close to reaching the final, just a mistake in the last second of her semi-final against Belgium’s Maryam Ismaili cost her.
Her father, Andy, said after the event: “Katie is very happy to bring her first senior G1 medal home to South Hams Taekwondo Club (Plymouth), but is still gutted about her mistake costing her a place in final and a better medal.
“But she will learn from it for next. Very proud dad as always.”
Spain’s Fedia Farhani won the event with Ismaili taking second and Bradley and Egypt’s Raneen Afifi claiming the bronzes.
