Plymouth Argyle duo in running for League Two monthly awards

PLYMOUTH Argyle manager John Sheridan and player Lewis Alessandra are in the running for February’s League Two monthly awards.

Sheridan has been nominated for the manager of the month after guiding the Pilgrims to four wins from five games during February, including a 3-1 win away at Devon rivals Exeter City.

That run of results has helped put the Greens back in the mix for the promotion play-offs.

Sheridan’s rivals for the award are Portsmouth’s Andy Awford, Bury’s  David Flitcroft and Northampton’s Chris Wilder.

Alessandra, meanwhile, is on the shortlist for the division’s player of the month award after scoring in three straight games during February.

He is up against Dagenham’s Jamie Cureton, Burton’s Phil Edwards and Portsmouth’s Jed Wallace.

The winners will be announced on Friday.

Argyle will be hoping to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Bury when they travel to Stevenage this evening.
