PLYMOUTH divers Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow produced an incredible display under pressure to win a World Cup bronze medal and secure Great Britain an Olympic sychro place.
The experienced pair had been a bit below par in the morning platform preliminaries in Brazil, qualifying seventh for the final, with a top five finish needed for a place in this summer’s Olympics.
But they really turned on the style when it mattered in the final scoring a total of 308.82 points. They were only beaten by China’s Ruolin Chen and Huixia Liu and Malaysia’s Jun Hoong Cheong and Pandelela Rinong Pamg..
Couch and Barrow were never out of the top four in the final as they handled the pressure and the outdoor conditions incredibly.
