UNIVERSITY of Plymouth student Oli Wright claimed victory in the 2015 Plymouth Triathlon.
North Devonian Wright edged out surfer-cum-triathlete Lyndon Wake for the title, with Andy Norris third.
Wake was more than a minute quicker on the swim and had nearly a three lead on Wright after the cycle but the race was decided on the run. Wright finishing in two hours 12 minutes and 28 seconds, with Wake coming home in 2:14.42.
Veteran Norris, first in the 40-49 category, clocked 1:19.33.
Helen Anthony won the women’s race in a time of 2:39.50, ahead of veteran Helen Dyke in 2:40.36 and Fran Normam, who was third in 2:49.41.
There was an impressive turnout for the Olympic distance event that started at finished at Mount Batten on Sunday morning.
Competitors swam 1.5km around Mount Batten before embarking on a 40km bike ride that took them on a two-lap course out to Modbury and back, before finishing with a 10km run around Turnchapel, Jennycliffe and Fort Stamford.
