THERE was a limited women’s football programme at the weekend due to international breaks, cup games and bad weather.
However, Marine Academy Plymouth were in action in the FA Women’s National League Division One South West and were beaten 10-0 by ambitious title-chasing Swindon Town, who have only lost once this season.
Libby Davies bagged a hat-trick for Swindon, who also had captain Annie Colston netting twice, with Izzy Cook, Sky Bedwell, Elsie Clayton, Tizzy Russell-Cartwright and Tori St Clair also on the scoresheet.
Despite the defeat, mid-table Marine Academy remain seven points off the drop zone and do have games in hand.
In the Devon League Cup, Plympton suffered last minute heartbreak when they were beaten 3-2 at home by Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police.
Plympton paid for not taking all their chances at Manadon as Keanna Cann snatched victory for the visitors in the 89th minute.
Isabelle Firth and Crystal-Mae Pollock scored Plympton’s goals, while Ella-Mae Evans-Pitts and Amy Mitchell were on target for the visitors before Cann’s late winner.
Plymouth Marjon progressed in the Devon Senior Cup with a 9-1 victory over league rivals Horrabridge Rangers at a wet and windy Tavistock College.
Aimee Kilpatrick and Amelia O’Connell netted twice for Marjon, who also had Beatriz Almeida, Freya Jackson, Rosie Kenny and Phoebe White on target.
There was no joy in that cup competition for Plymouth True Blue who were beaten 3-0 away at Devon North & East leaders Fremington.
In the Devon Women’s League South & West Division, Hunter District overcame Lakeside Athletic 3-2 thanks to goals from Rhia Cousins, Mollie Dring and Victoria Simpson. Megan Hosking and Charlotte Parish scored for Lakeside.
