PLYMOUTH Argyle and Marine Academy Plymouth were both beaten in their opening home games of the season in the FA Women’s National League.
Argyle find themselves bottom of the Southern Premier Division after just two games following a 6-0 defeat against AFC Wimbledon at Home Park on Sunday.
The new-look Pilgrims were two down at the break with Ellie Dorey and Emily Taylor-Brown scoring in the opening 45 minutes for the visitors.
The Dons totally pulled away after the interval with further goals from Rosie Russell, Freda Ayisi (2) and Dorey.
In FAWNL Division One South West, Marine Academy Plymouth were beaten 3-1 in a competitive match with Bristol Rovers at Ivybridge.
Marine Academy made a bright start and they took the lead in the 13th minute when captain Samantha Drewery fired into an open net following a mistake by the Rovers goalkeeper.
But the visitors pulled level in the 34th minute when Helena Costa netted from close range after the home goalkeeper could not hold on to the ball after initially saving a shot.
And two minutes later Rovers went in front when Gipsy Viveash scored with a lob from the left after she latched on to a long through ball.
It got better for the visitors at the start of the second half when Ruby Scahill scored with a long range lob almost from the re-start.
Marine tried their best to get back into the game, but the closest they came was when Emily Elliott shaved the woodwork in the 67th minute.
Plympton progressed through to the next round of the Women’s FA Cup after they beat Newquay 7-0 away in the preliminary round of the competition.
Bella Brown-Tunnell and Daisy Canning both scored twice for Plympton, with Lois Igalawuye, Olivia Lennox and Libby Williams also netting.
Signal Box Frankfort, who will play Kilkhampton in the FA Cup, beat Buckland Athletic 3-0 away in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.
