Young Dartmoor Velo riders impress at the South West Cyclo-Cross Championships

DARTMOOR Velo juniors impressed at the South West Cyclo-Cross Championships which were held at the Torbay Velopark on Sunday.

The championships were incorporated into round six of the South West Cyclo-Cross League.

There were six different races, starting with under-eights and going through to elite senior men.

Aoife Scawn won the under-16 girls’ race, finishing ahead of Lauren Fox.

Scawn was sixth overall in a joint under-16 and under-14 boys and girls’ race, which was won by Mid-Devon’s James Allen.

Dartmoor’s Charlie Day was third overall and first under-14 boy.

Team-mate Indie Skinner won the under-12 girls’ title, ahead of club colleague Rosie Eastmond.

Another Dartmoor Velo rider Harry Totham also impressed on the technical course. He finished second in the under-12 boys’ category just behind North Devon’s Leo Thorne.

Tahnee Skinner, also from Dartmoor, was the under-10 champion, with Harriet Day second.

The senior men’s race was won by Joe Baker, with M40 rider Nick Blight second, Tristain Davies third and Tavistock Wheelers’ Lee Adams fourth and third senior. Plymouth Corinthian’s Travis Bramley was seventh overall and fifth senior.

The junior men’s title was won by Wheal Velocity’s Oliver Riches with Mid-Devon Samuel Gray second.

Junior Georgia Mahoney was first female overall, with Hannah Bayes second overall and first senior, with Eva Fox, another junior, third.

Heidi Gould was first F40, with Plymouth Corinthian’s Tracey Corcoran second and Jo Meek third.
