DEVON are hoping three of their teams will reach County Championships finals at Twickenham.

The men’s senior team, the men’s under-20 side and the women’s team are all in semi-final action this weekend.

The men’s side host Staffordshire at Ivybridge’s Cross-in-Hand ground on Saturday (1pm) hoping to reach a second successive final.

Last year, they won the Division Three final at Twickenham and now they have the chance to reach the Division Two showpiece event and book promotion back to the top tier.

They were impressive in their pool matches, beating Gloucestershire 54-14 at Brixham and Oxfordshire 46-17 away.

Their opponents on Saturday, Staffordshire, finished runners-up in their pool on points difference after drawing 38-38 with East Midlands, who topped the group. Staffordshire did beat North Midlands 22-0 and Warwickshire 27-19.

Devon’s side this weekend includes Plymstock Oaks’ Lewis Paterson, Corey Jamieson and Harvey Courtis in the starting line-up, alongside Ivybridge’s Will Peakman, while Oaks’ Ollie White is named on the bench.

OPMs’ Matt Smale, meanwhile, will be hoping to captain Devon U20s to Twickenham.

They play Essex on Sunday at Eton Manor in their semi-final.

The Green and White youngsters topped the South West pool by beating Somerset 59-26, Cornwall 46-21 and Gloucestershire 27-22 before beating Berkshire 50-12 in the quarter-finals.

Ivybridge’s Dan Gloyns is named on the bench for Devon under-20s, with Smale starting at fly-half.

The women, who were Division Three Twickenham winners last year, are also looking to return to English rugby’s HQ, but in the higher league.

They play Berkshire at Cullompton on Sunday (2.30pm) for a place in the Division Two final.

Ivybridge’s Hannah Lumley, Michaela Dorrian, Chloe Huxter and Beth Plumpton will all start for Devon, while Katie Bounsall is on the bench.

Devon topped their pool with two wins out of three. They beat Gloucestershire 50-12 and Hampshire 35-5, but were just edged out 31-27 last weekend by Cornwall at Launceston.
