CITY of Plymouth’s Matthew Bradley held off the challenge of under-17 athlete Benjamin Marriott to win the Plymouth 10k title on Sunday in horrible weather.
In heavy rain, Bradley came home in a gun-time of 35 minutes and 11 seconds, with his former club colleague Marriott, now running in Newquay & Par colours, taking second in 35.21 minutes.
Third place went to Philip Boak, who clocked 35.41 minutes.
Sophie Lawrence took the women’s title in 43.16 minutes, with City of Plymouth’s Bella May second in 43.35 minutes and Louisa Shaw taking third and first F40 in 45.12.
Plymouth Harriers’ Karen Blakemore took the F60 title, while Pete Waumsley won the M50 category and finished eighth overall in 37.52 minutes, with Storm Plymouth’s Kevin Chiswell first M60.
The Plymouth 10k was once again held on the same day as the Plymouth Half Marathon and saw 1,225 runners overcome the tough conditions to finish.
