JAMES CARTLIDGE made sure there was a home club winner of the Plymouth Harriers Autumn 5 race on Sunday morning in Central Park.
Cartlidge held off the challenge of Erme Valley youngster Charlie Milward to win the five-mile race in wet and windy weather.
The Plymouth Harrier clocked 30 minutes and 22 seconds, to take the victory ahead of runner-up Milward by eight seconds.
Third place went to Storm Plymouth’s Daniel Westlake, who clocked 30.49 minutes, with Plymouth Musketeers’ Scott Mansfield (31.04) and Lee Herbert (32.07) fourth and fifth.
Michelle Cowley paced her race well to win the women’s race in 38.22 minutes, with Plymouth Musketeers’ Evynn Palmer and Carly Wardle second and third in 39.10 and 39.46 minutes, respectively. Storm Plymouth’s Laura Martin (42.12) was fourth woman, with Rosie Forbes fifth (43.03).
Despite the horrible weather conditions, some 114 runners completed the two lap course around Plymouth’s Central Park.
