ADAM HOLLAND claimed victory in Bank Holiday Monday’s Peter Tavy Plod.

Holland held off the challenge of City of Plymouth’s Thomas Blackford and Erme Valley Harriers teenager Charlie Milward to take the win in the race that takes competitors out of Peter Tavy village and up tracks to White Tor on Dartmoor before returning home.

Holland won in a time of 26 minutes and 18 seconds, with Blackford second in 27.51 and Milward third in 29.26. Those three were well ahead of the rest of the field by the end.

Joanne Page won the women’s race in a time of 36.24 minutes, with Carole Loader second and first F50 in 37.53 minutes and Lucy Hoade third in 38.04 minutes.

Meanwhile, City of Plymouth’s Poppy Tank finished fifth at the Home Nations and invitational Podium 5k event at Cardiff over the weekend.

Great Britain cross country international Tank set the early pace before New Zealander Georgie Grgec pulled away to claim victory.

Just six seconds then separated Jess Gibbon in second to Tank in fifth. Tank clocked 15.53 minutes for the race around the paths of Bute Park.

Afterwards the City of Plymouth athlete, who has concentrated on the steeplechase event for the last couple of seasons, said: “I ran freely and without fear of the outcome, something that has been a real challenge for me this year.

“In my last three road 5km (races) I’ve gone 16:22, 16.00 and 15:53 so trending towards where I want to be, but still a long way to go.

“It was nice to end my season on a positive note and feel confident going into my break healthy and with good momentum.”
