PLYMOUTH Dolphins RFC are celebrating after winning the International Gay Rugby (IGR) Merit League at the weekend.
The Dolphins, Plymouth’s first gay and inclusive rugby club, were crowned champions after convincingly beating Northampton Outlaws 52-14 at Kings Cross Steelers RFC in London.
The city side, who have been together for two seasons now, are currently on a 12-game winning streak.
Their only league defeat this term came in their opening match.
They will now be hoping to continue their success when they travel to Rome next month to take part in the Bingham Cup, which is better known as the biennial world championships of gay and inclusive rugby. Around 5,000 players are expected to take part in the tournament, which takes place between May 23-26.
