NICOLA Champion and Summer Barrett both scored hat-tricks as third-placed Saltash United beat Bideford 10-1 in their penultimate home match of the season in the South West Women’s League Western Division.
The Ashes led 4-0 at the break, with their four goals coming within the space of 12 minutes midway through the half, the first from the penalty spot.
And more quick-fire goals followed in the second period, with youngster Barrett bagging her three after the interval to score her first senior hat-trick.
As well as Barrett and Champion’s hat-tricks, there were also goals for Hayley Ranachan (2), Yasmin Franklin and Nicola Symons.
Bideford did keep going even when they went down to 10 players in the second period following an injury and Aimee Kingdon did score a fine goal for them after they had gone 8-0 down.
In the South West Women’s Premier Division, Jasmine Allen scored a second half penalty to give Liskeard Athletic a 1-0 home victory over St Austell at Lux Park.
In the Devon Women’s League Premier Division, leaders Plympton continued their push for the title with a 2-0 away victory at Teignmouth. Dionne Igalawuye and Sam Matters scored their goals.
In Devon South & West, unbeaten SB Oak Villa moved to the top of the table after a 22-0 victory over Tavistock at Manadon.
Becky Richards bagged seven goals for Oak Villa, with Rachel Finch, Ella Stevens and Victoria Jasper all claiming hat-tricks and Kelsey Blight, Olivia Lennox and Nicola Ornelas netting braces.
They face second-placed Horrabridge this coming weekend in a top-of-the-table clash.
In the same division, Elm United overcame Lakeside Athletic 3-0 thanks to efforts from Maisie Lovell, Toni Lunt and an own goal, while Signal Box triumphed 2-1 away at Paignton Villa with Erin Rumble and Addy Hitt on target for them.
In Cornwall Women’s League Division One, Saltash Borough beat Bodmin 3-1 at home with Sophie Perrin (2) and Louise Dark scoring, while in Division Two, Callington triumphed 15-0 against Charlestown.
