ELLIE SARA scored two late goals to secure Plymouth Argyle a 2-2 draw with second-placed Hashtag United at Marjon on Sunday in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.
The Pilgrims found themselves trailing 2-0 at the break, with Wiktoria Franc netting in the first minute for the visitors and Valentine Pursey adding their second on 23 minutes.
It remained at 2-0 until the 84th minute when Sara was fouled in the area after a Charlotte Whitmore long-range effort. Sara got up and calmly fired home the penalty to make it 2-1.
And it got better just four minutes later when she headed in an equaliser.
She nearly snatched an injury-time winner but was just inches away with an effort.
Marine Academy Plymouth ended their South West Women’s Premier Division season with a 2-0 away win at Bishops Lydeard.
Carmen Morison netted both their goals in Somerset.
The win keeps Marine Academy in second place. They are certain to finish in the top three, but Sherborne Town could overtake them in they win their games in hand.
In the same division, Liskeard Athletic came from behind to beat St Austell 2-1 on the 3G pitch at Callington.
An Emily Toogood corner caused problems for St Austell and was turned in for Liskeard’s equaliser before Emily Elliott netted their winner.
Plympton and SB Oak Villa both enjoyed Devon League Cup semi-final wins on Sunday.
Devon Premier Division leaders Plympton overcame Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police 8-3 at Tor Bridge.
Dionne Igalawuye hit four goals for Plympton, with Sam Metters, Charley Putman, Charlotte Jeffery and Bella Brown-Tunnell also on target as they reach the South & West final.
After the heartbreak of missing out on the Devon Senior Women’s Cup final on penalties last month, title-chasing South & West Division side SB Oak Villa made sure they made the League Cup final by overcoming Shaldon Villa 2-0 at Manadon on Sunday.
Oak Villa had a host of chances in the first half, including two that hit the post, but they could not beat the Shaldon goalkeeper in the opening 45 minutes.
But the breakthrough did come in the second half with Ella Stevens and Kelsey Blight firing them into the final.
In the Cornwall Women’s Cup, Saltash Borough were beaten 6-0 at home by higher league Helston Athletic.
In the Devon Women’s League South & West Division, Tavistock were beaten 8-0 at home by Paignton Villa.
