MIA ENDACOTT scored a late equaliser as Plymouth Argyle opened 2024 with a 3-3 home draw against fellow FA National League Southern Division strugglers Chatham Town at Coach Road on Sunday.
Argyle had stormed into the lead inside the first minute with a goal from Ellie Sara.
The hosts dominated the rest of the first half but were unable to add to their tally.
The visitors made changes at the break and substitute Melanie Espinosa came on and scored twice within 20 minutes to fire Chatham into a 2-1 lead.
Sara immediately levelled for Argyle with a lob for her second goal of the game.
But 11 minutes from time, Chatham went back in front with a strike from Brean Grant.
With time running out, Argyle pressed and two minutes from time they got a free-kick. Rebecca Dandridge fired it in and Taya Pomfret got her head on it. However, her shot was blocked on the line, but eventually the ball came out to youngster Endacott and she blasted it in from just inside the box to earn her side a share of the points.
The draw keeps 10th-placed Argyle five points of Chatham, who sit in the final relegation place.
In the South West Women’s League Western Division, Saltash United claimed a 1-0 away win at Sticker thanks to a strike by Wensday Wise.
In the Devon League Premier Division, title-chasing Plympton opened 2024 with a 10-1 home victory over Fremington.
Sam Metters scored four for Plympton, with Elsa Finnegan bagging two and Izzy Rogers, Codie-Al Cleugh, Daisy Canning and Violet Bell also on the scoresheet.
In the Devon South & West Division, unbeaten SB Oak Villa beat Hunters District 21-0 at Tavistock College on Sunday.
Becky Richards stole the show for Oak Villa by scoring eight goals.
Hunters did battle hard and held Oak Villa out until the 13th minute when Rachel Finch powerfully headed in from a corner.
Oak Villa, with Finch and Richards pulling the strings, then added seven more goals before the break and then 13 after the interval.
Finch, Shania Fenlon and Olivia Lennox all claimed hat-tricks to go with Richards’ eight, while Libby Williams bagged two and Kelsey Blight and Alysia-Paige Roberts were also on target.
Oak Villa stay in second place, but they do have two games in hand on leaders Horrabridge Rangers, who won 4-2 away at Plainmoor on Sunday.
Heidi Davies scored twice for Horrabridge, with Evelyn Bray and Leah Parnell-Moses also netting for the visitors.
Elsewhere in that division, Lakeside Athletic lost 8-0 away at Paignton Villa.
