WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Drewery hits six in Marine Academy’s big home win

SAMANTHA DREWERY scored six goals as second-placed Marine Academy Plymouth cruised to a 12-0 home victory over struggling Bideford at Ivybridge on Sunday in the South West League Western Division.

Five of Drewery’s goals came in the first half as Marine led 7-0. She also hit the bar with a good header in the opening 45 minutes.

Rebekah Rose, playing her first game since returning to the club, scored two impressive long-range goals and linked up well with Drewery.

There were also two goals for Megan Boulton, while Beth Overton scored a cracker in the second half and Siana Goodard finished off the scoring.

Saltash are in third in the South West League Western Division and they also enjoyed a comfortable win at the weekend.

They beat bottom side Budleigh Salterton 5-0 away on Sunday.

Yasmin Franklin and Nicola Champion both scored twice for the Ashes, while Emilia Heyes also netted.

In the South West League Premier Division, Liskeard Athletic drew 0-0 away at Forest Green Rovers.

Plymouth Argyle U23s were beaten 4-2 at home by Bournemouth Development in the FA Women’s National League Reserve South West Division. Tiana Campbell and new signing Taya Pomfret netting for the young Pilgrims. Pearl Mortimer scored all four of Bournemouth’s goals.

In the Devon Women’s League South & West Division, Plympton are up to second after a 6-0 away win at Plainmoor.

Charley Putman scored two goals for Plympton, with their others coming from Mollie Naughton, Lois Igalawuye, Evie Hampton and Codie-Al Cleugh.

In the same division, Lakeside were beaten 3-0 at home to Shaldon, while Hunters District produced their best performance of the season in a 7-0 defeat at home to fourth-placed Teignmouth.

In the Cornwall Women’s League, Saltash Borough were beaten 6-1 away at Mousehole. Sophie Perrin scored Borough’s only goal.
