Diver Dixon confirmed in Team England’s squad for Commonwealth Games

PLYMOUTH diver Matthew Dixon will compete at his third Commonwealth Games this summer.

Dixon, 22, has been confirmed in an 18-strong Team England squad for the home games in Birmingham.

He made his Commonwealth Games debut as a 14-year-old back in Glasgow back in 2014 and then in 2018 in Australia he returned with two silver medals.

Also in the Team England squad for Birmingham are former Plymouth divers Emily Martin, Robyn Birch and Dan Goodfellow.

Mark England, Team England’s Chef de Mission, said: “I’m proud to welcome the 18 divers to Team England for the Commonwealth Games.

“The team blends previous medal winners with fresh and exciting talent such as Generation 22 athlete Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, and I know the Birmingham crowd will be right behind our athletes as they aim to ‘Bring It Home’ this summer.”

Team England topped the diving medal table at the 2018 Gold Coast Games with a total of eight medals – four golds, three silvers and one bronze.

The divers will look to ‘Bring It Home’ at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre from August 4 to August 8.
