ERME Valley Harriers’ Will Battershill will make his Great Britain senior debut next month.

Battershill, who has represented England and Great Britain juniors, has been named in the GB men’s team for the European Cross Country Championships in Fingal-Dublin, Ireland.

The former Ivybridge Community College pupil booked his place in the team after finishing as fourth senior man at the trials in Liverpool at the weekend.

Steeplechase specialist Battershill will form a team with Olympian Andrew Butchart, Jamie Crowe, Jack Rowe, Stuart McCallum and another athlete to have represented Devon, Jake Smith.

Great Britain team leader Chris Jones, said: “Following very competitive trial races in Liverpool, we are delighted to select these strong teams for Fingal-Dublin next month.

“We have several athletes who have competed in senior and junior teams at international level before, combined with nine debutants, so I am sure they will all support one another to deliver good team and individual performances at the European Cross Country Championships.”

The championships will take place on Sunday, December 12.
