GALLERY: Tamar Trotters’ Landers claims victory at popular Tavy 7

TAMAR Trotters’ Jacob Landers continued his good form by winning the popular Tavy 7 in tricky conditions on Sunday morning.

Landers, who dominated the Armada 5k Series this summer, triumphed in 37 minutes and 45 seconds.

Second place went to Tavistock Run Project’s Ben Neale, who clocked 38.22 minutes, with James Dwyer third in 38.56 and South West Road Runners Tom Humphrey fourth in 39.48 minutes.

Eevee Banbury was the runaway women’s winner, clocking an impressive time of 43.48 minutes. Second place went to Tavistock’s Nikki Kelly (47.20), with young club colleague Charlotte Walker third (48.39) and Plymstock Road Runners’ Carla Haines fourth (49.10).

Kelly and Walker helped Tavistock claimed the female Ross Shield team award, which was again incorporated into the Tavy 7. South West Road Runners won the men’s shield.

Tamar Trotters had a good race as Crispin Brabner were first and second over-50s, while Tavistock’s Jenny Jeaves was first female over-50.

Heavy rain in the run up to the event meant there were floods and standing water on some of the roads while the wind also made conditions tough, but there were still 435 finishers in the race that starts and finishes at Plaster Down on Dartmoor.
