GALLERY: International call for Tavistock’s Tyler, while Landers wins Armada 5k again

TAVISTOCK Athletic Club’s Josh Tyler has been selected to represent Scotland Under-20s at next week’s Manchester International.

Tyler will compete in the shot and discus at the event on Wednesday, August 18.

The Manchester International will see teams from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain Under-20s and the National Athletics League go head-to-head.

Erme Valley Harriers’ Will Battershill had already been selected to represent the England senior side in the steeplechase at the competition.

Meanwhile, Tamar Trotters’ Jacob Landers was first home for the second month running in August’s Armada 5k on Wednesday evening at Central Park.

Landers was nine seconds quicker this time around, lowering his course record to 16.45 minutes.

Plymouth Musketeers’ Ross Macdonald was second for the second month running. He finished in 17.49 minutes.

Third place went to Plymstock Road Runners’ veteran Graham Bale in 18.33 minutes, with Sebastian Broomfield fourth (18.33) and Scott Mansfield fifth (18.50).

Storm’s Charlene Matthews was first woman home in 22.36 minutes, with Pille Pedmanson second in 23.13 and Erme Valley youngster Isabella Trowell third in 24.53 minutes.
