PLYMPTON Athletic made it three wins out of three in the Devon Football League with a 4-1 victory over Totnes & Dartington in a feisty game at Lee Moor.
The match was tighter than the scoreline suggests, but two goals in the final 18 minutes guaranteed Plympton another three points.
The hosts got a dream start when Dan Edwards scored after just two minutes.
The visitors, still looking for their first points of the season, did respond with some good pressure after that early set back. But on 24 minutes Plympton doubled their lead when Scott Wellington found himself unmarked on the left and he headed into the far corner of the net from a good cross.
The game did look like it was going to boil over at one point in the first half and Totnes did pull a goal back on 35 minutes with a penalty.
There was little to choose between the teams in the opening 20 minutes of the second period.
On 66 minutes, Totnes came within inches of pulling level when they hit the near post.
That near miss seemed to kick-start Plympton into action again and six minutes later James Yates scored a fine goal to make it 3-1.
And 10 minutes from time, Chris Harvey sealed the victory with a powerful header from a corner.
