Daley named in World Series squad, while Dixon and Martin head to Rostock

PLYMOUTH’S Tom Daley has been named among a 10-strong British team for the home leg and finale of the 2020 FINA Diving World Series next month.

The Olympic medallist won the overall men’s 10m platform title at last year’s World Series and will be looking for more success this time around when the final meet of the competition returns to London on the weekend of March 27-29, in the build-up to the Olympic Games in Tokyo later in the year.

Daley is set to compete in the 10m platform, men’s 10m synchro and mixed three-metre synchro events, having won gold in the latter two categories alongside Matty Lee and Grace Reid at the London Aquatics Centre last May.

Ahead of the London event at the end of March, the British team will be in action across the first two Diving World Series legs, with this year’s competition gets underway in Montreal, Canada from February 28 to March 1. The team will then head east with a trip to Kazan, Russia across March 20-22, a week before the home finale.

Plymouth’s Matthew Dixon is not included in the World Series squad, but he should be selected for the FINA World Cup event in Japan in April after winning the British title last month.

However, Dixon and Plymouth team-mate Emily Martin will be in action for Great Britain next weekend (February 20-23) when they compete in the FINA Grand Prix in Rostock.

The pair are part of a 16-strong GB team heading to the event in Germany.
