Wales legend visits Plymouth Argaum to help their new under-13 girls

WALES rugby legend Non Evans visited Plymouth Argaum’s Bickleigh Down ground on Sunday to coach the club’s new under-13 girls’ team.

Evans, who has an MBE, earned 87 caps and scored 489 points, including a record 64 tries, for her country as well as competing for Wales at four Commonwealth Games in judo, weightlifting and wrestling.

She was delighted to pass on coaching advice and tips to Argaum’s newcomers to rugby and even brought some of her caps and international shirts to inspire them.

Argaum secretary Stuart Quarterman said: “She drove down from Swansea in the morning and was more than happy to take the session.

“She’s achieved so much in life with rugby, weightlifting, wrestling judo and was even on the Gladiators.

“The girls were mesmerised and if some of her enthusiasm rubs off on them, then they will do very well.

“It was a really fun session, driven around belief and the ‘I can do it’ mind set.

“We were so privileged to have had someone of her calibre come to us.”

The Argaum girls are all newcomers to rugby. The club have entered next week’s touch event at the Plant Earth Games in Exeter and are looking for any other Year 6 or Year 7 girls that would like to join them.  For more information contact
