TOM DALEY and his new synchro diving partner Matty Lee had to settle for fourth place at their second FINA World Series event in a row.
Having finished just outside the medals on their international debut last weekend in Japan, Daley and Lee were also fourth in Beijing on Thursday.
However, they did improve on their score from the previous week.
In Japan they finished with 387.93 points, but in Beijing, where Daley made his Olympic debut as a 14-year-old in 2008, they scored 400.86 points.
The top four places in the men’s 10m synchro event were exactly the same in China as they had been in Japan. China’s Yuan Cao and Aisen Chen won, with Russia’s Aleksandr Bondar and Viktor Minibaev second and Domonic Bedggood and Declan Stacey third.
Daley will be aiming to medal in the Olympic ‘Water Cube’ in the mixed three-metre synchro with Grace Reid on Saturday and the individual event on Sunday.
