HUNDREDS of runners descended on south east Cornwall on Saturday for the annual Looe 10 Miler race.

The challenging event, which forms part of the Cornish Grand Prix Series, takes competitors along a scenic route from Looe’s Millpool car park, down the coast to Talland and back.

This year’s race helped raise vital funds for Cornwall Air Ambulance’s ‘New Heli Appeal’.

Each entry included a £2 donation to the appeal and runners were also encouraged to raise sponsorship to support the campaign.

Mile High’s Tony Brewer, fresh from his victory at this month’s Newquay 10k, claimed victory. He managed to see off the challenge of Tavistock Run Project’s Jim Cole, who took second.

Team H’s Claudia Serien was first women home in an event that attracted around 700 runners.
