DAVID KNIGHT and Bex Ezra enjoyed success at the The Run Venture Rollercoaster off-road race at Tamar Trails.
Knight was first man home on the tough five mile run, which featured five main hills, in a time of 34 minutes and 18 seconds.
Pete Waumsley was second in 34.46, with George Prewett third.
Tamar Trotters’ Ezra was first women home in 35.47 minutes, with Maddie Horton second and first over-40 in 36.16 and Jenny Nash third and first over-50 in 39.59.
Jason Pascoe was first in the canicross (running with a dog) event in an impressive time of 29.28 minutes. Sarah Pepper was first female canicross athlete in 35.05 minutes. More than 120 competitors took part in the combined event.
Meanwhile, Exmouth’s Tom Merson beat Ceri Rees to win the Bicton Blister.
Merson won in 57.13 minutes, with Wild Running’s Rees coming home in 1:00.06 and Axe Runners’ James Green taking third in 1:02.50.
Sidmouth’s Kirsteen Welch was first women in 1:08.36, with Serane Stone second in 1:09.28.
More than 400 runners completed the Bicton Blister, including a number from the Plymouth area.
This weekend many of the region’s top athletes will be competing at the Devon County Cross Country Championships, which will be incorporated into the third Westward League event at Exeter.
The first race at Exeter starts at 12.15pm and will be the under-11 event, with the championship race – the senior women and under-17s – going off at 12.30pm. The final race will be the senior and under-20 men’s event at 2.15pm.
