Plymouth Argyle Ladies will be without England under-20 international Jessica Jones for their home match against Loughborough Foxes on Sunday at Coach Road, Newton Abbot (1pm).
Jones ended up in hospital following last week’s National League Cup tie at Southampton after collapsing immediately after the game.
Thankfully, after undergoing numerous tests, the teenager was given the all-clear with the doctors suggesting she possibly could have over exerted herself.
In view of this, the Argyle management of Trevor Rodd and Dave Leonard have decided to rest her this Sunday and she will return to training next week.
The good news is that Becca Wakley had recovered from injury and is in the squad.
Sunday’s league game has been moved to the Devon FA headquarters at Coach Road, Newton Abbot, which is where they will play the remainder of their games.
This will be Argyle’s first game against Loughborough who, like the Pilgrims, were promoted into the Women’s National Southern Division. Loughborough were the winners of Midlands Division One.
The Leicestershire side have not had the best of starts to the season, with three wins, a draw and four defeats to their name. However, they did hammer Milton Keynes 6-0 last Sunday which ended a four-match losing run so they will not be taken lightly.
Argyle had a difficult start to the season winning at Milton Keynes (4-3) before going down 3-0 at home to Chichester City. Since then Argyle have won their last seven league and cup matches.
Argyle squad: Lindsay Rogers, Mollie Taylor, Kate Middleton, Ebony Dover, Darcey Hepworth, Becky Dandridge, Kayley Lane, Steph Beck, Becca Wakley, Amber Pollock, Zoe Cunningham, Helen Bleazard, Faye Ivall and Tamsin Medd-Gill.
Argyle’s development team have also had a good start to the season and currently head the South West League Western Division.
Their only defeat was a 3-2 loss at local rivals Plympton.
Argyle are at home again on Sunday when they entertain east Devon side Feniton, who are enjoying a good start to their season having been promoted from the Devon League. They have won their last three games.
Argyle will be without the experienced Rachel Javan and Panagiota Papaioannou, who is on international duty with Greece, but they welcome back player-coachVicki Fannon and Hannah Brock. The match is being played at the Salt Mill, Saltash (2pm).
Development Squad: Amy Darnley, Alex Hugh, Sally Salter, Sarah Prior, Maya Ridge, Hannah Brock, Gabi Alphous, Nicola Champion, Kiara Robins, Becky Parkyn, Vicki Fannon, Shania Fenlon, Jodie Randall.
