Plymouth teacher Shaw among the medals at Weymouth Classic Triathlon

PLYMOUTH triathlete Robert Shaw continued his build up for the World 70.3 Ironman Championships by finishing second at the Weymouth Classic Triathlon on Sunday.

Shaw finished just behind BustinSkin’s Luke Voss in the open water event.

Voss, who produced a good run to take the title, clocked 2:05.19, with Shaw finishing 2:06.19.

Shaw completed the tough sea swim in 18.58 minutes, the 1:06.37 and the run in 38.46.

The Plymouth teacher had enjoyed a good season. He won the BustinSkin Weymouth Middle Distance Triathlon and the Taunton and Wincanton triathlons and was second in the Plymouth event. He also qualified for the 2018 Ironman 70.3 World Championships after finishing second in his age category at the Staffordshire Ironman 70.3.

Those World Championships will be held in South Africa on the weekend of September 1-2.
