Plymouth’s Arnott claims victory at Loughborough International Meet

COMMONWEALTH Games silver medallist James Arnott impressed at the Loughborough International Meet at the weekend.

The City of Plymouth athlete took victory in the combined para 100m race in a time of 11.46 seconds.

It was his first competitive outings since winning a silver medal over the same distance in Australia.

Tamar Trotters’ Mike Wilsmore, Erme Valley Harriers’ Sam Trigg and City of Plymouth’s Matt Sumner also competed at Loughborough.

Wilsmore took fourth place in a competitive 1,500m race. He clocked 3:45.29.

Trigg also came fourth in the men’s triple jump with a best leap of 15.23m.

Sumner, meanwhile, took fifth in the non-scoring guest 400m hurdles in 54.57 seconds.

Elsewhere, Royal Navy runner Bart Thomas claimed victory in May’s Tavistock 5kool Run.

He clocked 17.01 to finish more than two minutes ahead of the rest of the field.

Second was Jeremy Westmore in 19.19, with Tom Fox third in 19.28.

Tavistock Run Project’s Sam Lake was fourth overall and first women in 19.40 minutes. Second women was Tavistock’s under-17 athlete Carolin Vorbeck, who clocked 20.02, with club colleague Lauren Bryant third in 22.24.
