Pilgrim Flyers’ Andrews and Allen continue success in South West Cyclo-Cross League

PILGRIM Flyers’ Oliver Allen and Rosie Andrews continued their domination of the under-16 age group in the South West Cyclo-Cross League with victories in round 10 at Paignton.

Andrews is unbeaten in the girls’ category this season and eased to another win at the Torbay leg, finishing ahead of North Devon’s Hannah Rainger.

Allen also had no problem picking up his eighth win of the series at the Paignton Velopark, with Clive Mitchell Cycle’s Sam Medlyn coming second and Taw Velo’s Edward Armstrong third.

Conditions were a lot better than they had been the week before for round nine at Pillaton.

The senior race at Paignton was won again by Richard Long, with Tavistock Wheelers’ Phil Collings taking second. Harry Birchill was third overall and first junior man.

The women’s race was won by Team RGB’s Alice Staniford, who edged out Mid-Devon’s Juliet Elliott, with Taw Velo’s Rebecca Cornwell third.

Complete Cycles’ Leon Dawes again took victory in the under-14 boys’ category, finishing ahead of Tavistock’s series leader Joe Dix and Mid-Devon’s Callum Start.

Taw Velo’s Emma Spriggs won the under-14 girls’ race ahead of team-mates Ellen Garnsworthy and Ellen Webber.

Minehead’s Joe Wright was again triumphant in the under-12 boys’ event. He edged out Tavistock’s Ryan Kingdon and Taw’s Louis Garnsworthy.

Louis Wright and Georgia Mahoney were the under-10 winners, with Matthew Holmes and Lauren Fox victors in the under-eight category.

The 11th and penultimate round of the series will now take place at Okehampton Community College on December 17 having been moved from Mount Kelly College.
