Plymouth’s Tuima named in England squad for second test against Canada

PLYMOUTH teenager Lagi Tuima could make her England women’s debut on Tuesday night against Canada.

The 19-year-old has been named on the bench for the England senior side for their second Test at the Twickenham Stoop.

England hammered Canada 79-5 at the weekend in their opening match of a three-Test series, but they have resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes.

Tuima, however, is added to the bench and if she comes for her debut at Harlequins’ ground it would cap an amazing rise for the city youngster.

Just 19 months ago she was helping Devonport Services under-18s win the South West Plate final.

Tuima was called up by England Under-20s last summer and spent the 2016/17 season playing for Plymouth Albion.

However, she has since moved to Premier XV side Bristol, where she has been impressing in the top flight of English women’s rugby.
