PLYMOUTH’S leading billiards player Steve Brookshaw has received a call-up to play for England in the forthcoming Home Internationals Championships.
His selection comes after a good season on the World Billiards circuit, where he reached number 14 in the rankings and made the last eight of the Scottish Open and UK Open events.
This will be Brookshaw’s first England cap and he will be joined in the team by current national champion Ryan Mears, five-times English amateur champion Rob Hall and former professional Nalin Patel.
The Home Internationals Championships takes place at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds and will see England take on teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Jersey.
Prior to the billiards tournament, which takes place on August 17 and 18, there will also be senior and junior snooker teams competing throughout the week.
The Home Internationals will be followed by the Northern Snooker Centre Open which is the final event of the 2016-17 World Billiards tour. That will be held on August 19 and 20.
