Plymouth’s Pillage all set for European Junior Championships in Barcelona

PLYMOUTH modern pentathlete Myles Pillage is preparing to make his debut at the European Junior Championships in Spain.

The 19-year-old former Plymouth College pupil is part of a seven-strong Great Britain team that will take part in the event that starts on Sunday in Barcelona.

Although Pillage has not competed before at the championships, he is one of the most experienced athletes in the GB team, having featured at three senior World Cup events this year.

He made his World Cup debut in Los Angeles in February, competing in the individual and mixed relay competitions in the USA.

He followed that up with winning a stunning silver medal alongside Jo Muir at the second World Cup event in Cairo.

In his latest international appearance, Pillage finished sixth at the Milan Kadlec Memorial.

He is joined in the GB junior team by Charlie Follett, Georgia Pipes, Holly Parker, Sarah Collin, Bradley Sutton and Jamie Harper.

The women’s qualifying event will be on Sunday, with the men’s qualifying the following day. The men’s final is on Wednesday, with the relay events taking place between the Thursday and next Saturday.
