Divers Dixon and Lobb head out to Canada to compete at FINA Grand Prix

PLYMOUTH divers Matthew Dixon and Shanice Lobb are part of a young Great Britain team that have flown out to Canada for FINA Grand Prix in Gatineau.

The competition in Quebec starts on Thursday and runs through to Sunday.

World junior bronze medallist Dixon will compete in the men’s platform individual event on Thursday and the men’s 10m synchro final on Sunday, with partner Noah Williams.

His cousin Lobb, who is now training in London, will compete in the women’s platform individual event on Friday.

Great Britain have sent eight athletes to Canada. Joining European junior champion Dixon, Lobb and Dive London’s Williams in the team are Sheffield’s Millie Fowler, Jack Haslam, Ross Haslam and Millie Haffety and Southampton’s Gemma McArthur.

The FINA Grand Prix, also known as the Canada Cup, will attract some of the world’s best divers.

Three-time Olympic medallist Meaghan Benfeito will compete at her home event. Also among the entries are Australian Olympic medallist Melissa Wu, former European springboard champion Matthieu Rosset, of France, and a strong Chinese team that includes junior world champions Linhai Chen and Huiling Chen and Liu Xin and Jian Yang.
