Plymouth’s Jones leaps clear at the top of UK under-13 pole vault rankings

CITY of Plymouth Athletic Club’s Noah Jones has moved clear as the UK’s leading under-13 pole vaulter with a new personal best this week.

Jones smashed his old PB by 15cm on Tuesday night at the first Exeter Evening Open meeting of the season.

The 12-year-old cleared a height of 2.55m at the Devon competition. His previous best mark was 2.40m achieved at an indoor meeting in Cardiff in January.

Jones was already leading the UK rankings with that 2.40m mark but he now has a big advantage on the rest of his rivals. He is also now just five centimetres off making the UK’s all-time best list, which is his next target.

The youngster will be in action on his home track on Sunday when he competes in City of Plymouth’s Spring Open Meet.

The city club are hoping for a good turnout for the event which is open for all ages from under-eight (panthers) to veterans and also features para-events.

There is a virtually a full programme for all age groups. The event starts at 11am and the timetable for the day is available HERE.
