Tavistock’s Cole edges out Andrews to take Bideford Half Marathon title

TAVISTOCK’S Jim Cole held off the challenge of Plymouth Harriers’ Jordan Andrews to win the Bideford Half Marathon on Sunday.

In windy conditions, Cole took victory in a time of 1:11.21, with Andrews second in 1:11.45.

Pontypridd’s Jack Blackburn was third (1:14.43), with Tavistock’s Ben Neale fourth (1:15.35) and Exmouth’s Ryan Snell fifth (1:16.20).

Plymstock Road Runners’ Graham Bale was first over-50 athlete home in 1:19.26, while Tavistock’s Martin Exley-Deane took top prize in the men’s over-55 category by finishing in 1:24.49.

The women’s race produced a good battle, with Tiverton’s Serane Stone winning in 1:20.37, ahead of Haldon’s Elizabeth Dyson in 1:21.49 and Ilfracombe’s Mary Menon in 1:22.19.
