PLYMOUTH divers Tonia Couch and Tom Daley have been confirmed in Great Britain’s squad for the 2017 FINA/NVC World Series.
This year’s World Series legs will take place in in Beijing, China (March 3-5), Guangzhou, China (March 9-11), Kazan, Russia (March 31– 2 April 2) and Windsor, Canada (April 21-23).
Couch will once again team up with Leeds’ Lois Toulson in the women’s 10m synchro, while Daley will take part in the men’s synchro with former Plymouth diver Dan Goodfellow, who moved to Leeds after winning a synchro bronze medal at last year’s Olympic Games.
Britain have named eight divers in their squad. As well as Daley and Goodfellow, fellow Olympic medallists Jack Laugher and Chris Mears are also included.
National performance director Alexei Evangulov said: “The World Series is going to be a good test for our athletes to return to international competition for the first time since the Olympic Games.
“It also gives the divers the platform on which to return to peak fitness sooner, facing tough international competition and be ready to challenge for podium positions in the summer.
“It will provide us with an opportunity from a strategic point of view to identify who our main competition will be, come the FINA World Championships in Budapest later this year.”
