GALLERY: Plymouth players help Devon under-15s to double over Cornwall

PLAYERS from the Plymouth area helped Devon Under-15s to two victories over Cornwall at Keyham on Wednesday.

Devon’s A team, captained by Plymstock Albion Oaks’ Jake Bond, triumphed 38-5, while the B side won 27-0.

Flanker Bond was among the A team’s try scorers. He went over for their second touch-down on 15 minutes after Topsham’s Will Kennaugh had given the hosts the lead nine minutes earlier.

Alex Rowe scored a third for Devon on 17 minutes before Ivybridge winger Jamie Moore showed his amazing pace to add a fourth on the stroke of half-time to make it 26-0.

Devonport Services’ centre Archie Hill added a try and conversion after the interval before Cornwall responded with a deserved score in the corner.

img_5232However, the final word went to Devon A, with Jack Carden adding a sixth try.

The B team ran in five unanswered tries in the earlier game.

Ivybridge number eight Alfie Raynor got them off the mark with a fine individual effort on 14 minutes.

Ben Dawson added a second before Ivybridge prop Ewen Stephens crossed just before half-time to make the score at the break 15-0.

Sam Leworthy and Harry Emmett added further tries for Devon B after the interval.
