Plymouth Leander win women’s freestyle relay medal on second day of ASA Winter Meet

PLYMOUTH LEANDERPLYMOUTH Leander added to their medal tally on the second day of the ASA Winter Meet in Sheffield.

Leander took silver in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay event on Friday evening.

The Plymouth team, made up of Felicity Passon, Juliette Casini, Anita M’Cartney and Jessica Jackson, just missed out on gold, with City of Sheffield just touching a tenth of a second ahead of them.

Sheffield clocked 3:38.82, with Leander recording a time of 3:38.92.

Mount Kelly College’s Niamh Robinson continued her good form at the South Yorkshire competition.

Robinson, who had won a bronze on the opening day in the 50m breaststroke, finished fourth in the women’s 100m IM in 1:01.84. She also finished seventh in the 50m butterfly B final in 27.59, just edging out Leander’s Jessica Jackson, who was eighth in 27.63.

Plymouth Leander’s Laura Stephens reached the A final, where she finished eighth in 26.96 seconds.

Her team-mate Ivo Staub finished sixth in the men’s 50m backstroke in 24.68 seconds. Fellow Plymouth swimmer Perry Gardner was second in the B final in 25.12, with Mount Kelly’s Benjamin Staig 10th in 25.77.

Leander’s Reece Dunn finished second in the men’s B 100m freestyle final with a time of 49.91.
