Young Plymouth divers impress at Peter Waterfield Novices’ event in Southampton

Life CentrePLYMOUTH Diving’s next crop of young talent impressed at the Peter Waterfield Novices’ Meet in Southampton.

Plymouth returned with two medals and seven more top six places at the competition for youngsters who hope to take part in the 2017 National Skills’ Final.

Poppy Hall won gold in the girls’ group C event in Southampton with 279.30 points. Her team-mate Megan Ansell took fifth in the same competition, where Brooke Hart, Magdon Schwarz and Ellie Kittle also competed.

There was a bronze medal for Ellie Pearce in the girls’ D competition. She scored 288.10 points, with team-mate Maia Pearson fifth. Imogen Kenny, Isabel Wilkinson, Charlie Mason and Chantal Reeder also took part in this class.

In the boys’ E section, Plymouth Diving filled five of the top 10 placings. Aiden Lamerton took fourth, Oliver Heath fifth, Oscar Hart sixth, Finley Rumbold seventh and Thomas Bennett 10th.

In the girls’ E category, Harlie Stringer just missed out on a top three placing, finishing fourth. Polly Evans, Lily Walker, Lucy Bentley, Lakayska Pay, Amelia Middleton-Nunn and Rose McCabe also took part in this age group.

There were top 10 placings for Georgia McCoy and Jessica Mason in the girls’ B section, where Alex Lamerton, Amy Davis and Jasmine Hartill also dived for Plymouth.

Ben Kearton (sixth) and Jack Kinsman-Moore (seventh) finished in the boys’ D top 10, with Jamie Daniels (11th), Josh Williams (12th), Alex Snell (14th) and Joe Lord (16th) not far behind.

There was a seventh-placed finish for Steven Buckingham in the boys’ C competition.

The Irish Diving Championships take place this coming weekend, along with the White Rose event in Leeds, but the next big event for Plymouth Diving is the Luton Challenge on November 25.
