Plymouth Leander’s Proud wins World Cup bronze medal

PLYMOUTH Leander’s Ben Proud won a bronze medal at the FINA World Cup series event in Berlin on Wednesday evening.

Proud finished joint third in the 50m freestyle short course final with a time of 21.15 seconds.

Russia’s Vladimir Morozov won in 20.79, with South Africa’s Chad Le Clos second in 21.15.

Ukraine’s Andrii Govorov finished with the same time as Proud, who had come fourth in the Olympic Games 50m freestyle final.

Proud was also fourth on Tuesday evening in the World Cup 50m butterfly final, clocking a time of 22.69 seconds.
