Hooker Salter returns to Plymouth Albion for a third spell

saltsCORNWALL hooker Jamie Salter has joined Plymouth Albion for a third time in his career.

The 31-year-old teacher previously had spells at Brickfields during the 2008-09 campaign and the 2012-13 season.

Salter has been playing for Launceston, but he missed a large part of last season with a detached bicep that required surgery.

He will face competition for the Albion hooker’s spot from Rupert Freestone, Tom Cowan-Dickie and Exeter’s Paul Davies, while Sam Matavesi, who can also play there, is also training with Albion.

Salter, who started his career at Mounts Bay, said: “I really enjoyed my time at Polson Bridge but I want to play at the highest level possible.

“I live in Plymouth and I am looking forward to challenging for a place in Albion’s front-row.”

He added: “I have a lot of experience of playing National One rugby and am excited by the squad Albion are putting together.”

Salter made just five starts in his previous two spells at Albion but will be hoping to improve on that this time around.
