PLYMOUTH Harriers’ Chris Aldridge claimed his second Armada Summer 5k Series win of the year with victory in July’s race.
Aldridge had won the opening run in April and he repeated that feat on Wednesday night at Saltram Park, coming home in a time of 17 minutes and 23 seconds.
Plymouth Tri Club’s Fin Saunders was second in 17.31 minutes, with Plymstock veteran Graham Bale third in 17.49, Tamar Trotters’ Simon Yeo fourth in 18.04 and Plymouth Harriers’ Alex Peyton-Jones fifth in 18.06.
Peyton-Jones has been incredibly consistent this summer, finishing in fifth place three times and fourth once from the four series races.
Erme Valley Harriers’ Cleo Perry was first women home by two minutes on Wednesday. She clocked 19.16 minutes.
The battle for the next places could not have been tighter with just four seconds separating second from fourth women.
Plymouth Harriers’ Elizabeth Coombes edged second in 21.16, with Newton Abbot’s Amy Smart third in 21.17 and Plymouth Tri Club’s Megan Cragg fourth in 21.20.
More than 150 participants completed the course, including many new runners.
