TOM DALEY produced an incredible display of diving to win the European Championship 10m title in London on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Plymothian scored a staggering 570.50 points to top the podium. Five of his six dives collected more than 96 points.
Russia’s Viktor Minibaev, who has been one of Daley’s big rivals this year, finished second with 524.60 points. Fellow Russian Nikita Shleikher was third with 480.90 points.
Daley believes his performance in London shows he is in perfect shape for this summer’s Olympic Games.
“It was lovely to get gold,” said Daley. “I feel I am in a perfect position going into the Olympic Games. I am ready for anything at the moment.”
Daley had been suffering with a few niggling injuries earlier in the year, but he says he feels back to his best, although he still thinks he can even do better.
“I scored 570 points with a couple of dives I can still do better,” he said. “I feel like I can do better than that.”
