PLYMOUTH Albion club captain Jake Murphy will make his return to action on Saturday when he lines up for Cornwall in their opening County Championship clash with Gloucestershire at Redruth (3pm).

Murphy has not played since helping Albion beat Blackheath on March 19 due to a broken hand.

But he has been passed fit to feature for defending champions Cornwall against Simon Lane’s Gloucestershire.

He will start at full-back and is one of eight Albion players named in the Duchy’s starting line-up.

Joining Murphy in the county side will be Rupert Freestone, Sam Matavesi, Herbie Stupple, Matt Shepherd, Billy Searle, Robin Wedlake and Jon Dawe.

There could have been 10 Plymouth players in the squad, but prop Christian Judge is injured and utility player Seti Raumakita suspended.

Cornwall are once again captained by former Albion back-rower Kyle Marriott.

Another ex-Plymouth forward Tom Cowan-Dickie start at prop, while fellow old boys Pale Nonu and Luke Chapman could be on the bench.
